Proxy MC • "Proximus" Album out 7.7.09! http://proxymc.com ---- Mon, 09 Aug 2010 03:00:00 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.9.2 en hourly 1 Life Music Workshop http://proxymc.com/?p=215#comments Thu, 01 Jul 2010 19:27:54 +0000 admin http://proxymc.com/?p=215 so we did an 8 week workshop at a local detention center on songwriting, called the “Life Music Workshop” here in Denver. it’s a 2 month process that walks youth through restorative justice principles on learning who they’ve been, are and will be, then teaches them how to express that musically. we also teach them the nuts and bolts of songwriting, as most of these youth haven’t written a song before. without a doubt, one of the MOST powerful things i’ve ever done! the young men were not only impacted, but had a tremendous impact on me. walking this road with this group of 7 guys was incredible. we finished it by doing a concert at the D Note in Colorado for the public, families, Parole Officers, DYC and whoever else wanted to come and WOW! the guys knocked it out of the park! i promise, these songs will sell, as soon as the plan for distribution is finalized. keep your eyes and ears peeled as GV has some exciting things in the works!

i’m also in the middle of recording an album EPK for proximus. not your standard deal though, so stay tuned and when it’s posted… post and re-post baby!!

i’ve also started prayer, strategy and just a little forward motion on the next project!! i cannot freakin’ wait y’all!

lastly, shows, shows and more shows! that’s what i need right now, so stay connected!

on the music side, moving to phase 2 of marketing “proximus”. it’s been an experience, indeed. but i really need more exposure, marketing, etc. so phase 2 includes shows, dj’s, radio and video.

oh! and i’m about to start auditioning again, on the acting side. i really took my focus off of that to complete this project, but time for some action!

EVER! i have a BEAUTIFUL wife, who truly loves me, inspite of my imperfections. i have two incredible kids, a job, a community, church, place to rest, transportation, etc. etc. these are things people DIE for. i am very reflective today for that reason, but i pray there is some sunshine in your life today too and even if it’s overcast, i hope you see the beauty that’s still there. be encouraged! much love

(dang!) http://proxymc.com/?p=170#comments Sat, 11 Jul 2009 19:14:28 +0000 admin http://proxymc.com/?p=170 well, i’m writing this with some regret and disappointment. right now, i’ve been planning on being on stage at Youth Offender Services Juvenile Prison in Pueblo CO, RIGHT NOW. this event was scheduled as the release / debut of my junior album “Proximus”. the mission of this album is to bring attention, light and focused service around the young and incarcerated. what better way to kick it off?!

i thought it was God’s will and now i’m a bit confused, just being str8. the day before, we (me, my band and my label mate Verbs) get a call saying there was a huge fight in the yard and the prison is on lock down; no one is allowed in over the weekend. WHAT????!! i thought this was what God wanted?! so we tried our hardest to find our way around this, but no go.

pray for us, please. i know the enemy doesn’t want me to accomplish destiny, but he’s not strong enough. also, keep an eye on this website, our phone line (303) 675-3300 and at shows; we’re going to go even harder; i’m angry now.
